BA Airline Crash At Heathrow?

Does the dumbing down of the education process mean that aircraft is not serviced as effectively as they should be? Given that students now have an indifferent attitude to life is it worrying that these peple could be servicing jets?

  1. one of my friends is an aeronautical engineer at heathrow,, and believe me you don't want to know!
  2. Only start worrying when those students become pilots
  3. Too busy to care............people are in too much of a hurry.
  4. if it happens to BA then it could happen to any airline
  5. I work in the aviation industry, and I can assure you that there has been no dumbing down of anyone. In fact, technology has required college graduate level workers in what once were "blue collar" skilled trades. Materials and procedures are far different than in the past. As for Heathrow, who knows. In Little Rock (1999 - American Airlines MD-80) it was essentially pilot arrogance, ignoring the prelanding checklist, violating approach precedures (corporate and FAA), and ignoring the advice of the First Officer to go around.
  6. i believe that you have to have the relevent qualifications to work on an aeroplane, you have to be smart...all the important stuff would have been done by an engineer, not just some school drop-out. These people are not stupid - and they are deffinetly not students.
  7. It is more concerning that in asking this question and slating others for their academic ability, your own spelling and grammar leave a lot to be desired.
  8. We should wait and see what happened before speculating... it may even have been a problem with the design of aircraft.
  9. You are not qualified to make such a sweeping statement.I can tell you that BA aircraft are maintained to the highest possible standards.Students as you put it would never get near a BA aircraft unless they were fully qualified in what they do.The 777 is a fly by wire aircraft but in spite of this Boeing have a wonderful safety record as do BA considering the number of planes lying.Boeing are number 1 in the industry and this will not change. The relative young Airbus has an appaling safety record in comparison. My money is on Boeing,BA,Quantas.S African.thats it.
